Scenario: Lease Negotiation & COVID-19 Rent Relief

Situation

Lindt had various upcoming lease expiries across their national store portfolio during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but more importantly, Lindt were also ineligible for mandatory rent relief under the National Cabinet’s Mandatory Code of Conduct (“MCC”).

Action

  • Providing strategic lease advice to Lindt on temporary lease extensions in 2020.

  • Structuring and negotiating COVID-19 rent relief for Lindt, outside of the MCC framework.

Result

Endeavour secured temporary lease extensions to enable Lindt to successfully trade through COVID-19 conditions, as well as securing “goodwill gestures” of rent relief from Lindt’s Landlords.
